^^^ we already know what he can do offensively though I'm looking forward to seeing JV utilized much more than he has.  It's the defense I'm more curious about - esp with the personnel on the roster now.

i really think we were just scratching the surface last year. Nurse was still an assistant. Yea most of the schemes were his but he didnt have final say on what to run or personnel. I expect it to open up even more. Especially at crunch time he wont allow a revert to DeMar/Lowry ISO tactics.

I’m just as excited to see Nurse as I am Kawhi

What I liked to hear from the players was the freedom to make plays and make decisions.  Get away from predictability.

Casey has the ability to screw up Kawhi. That is no longer the case.

you are like me then lol i actually believe we upgraded HUGE at the HC position. Time will tell but as far as what ive read, seen and heard about Nurse he seems like like a very educated, modern thinker and will take a modern approach to the game on both ends.

I actually think he has a chance to be one of the better coaches in the league from the gate if he has the teams ear.

I'm far from convinced by Nurse. I'll see how I feel a couple months into the season

He gets to start from within a well-established culture that he’s already familiar with. And he’s been handed an upgrade in talent that comes from a championshi culture. Unless he’s incompetent, which is unlikely, he has every chance in the world to succeed. Yeah, there will still be challenges, but his approach seems to be spot on as a means to minimizing them.

All true, but really none of us know how him as HC is going to work. Everyone seems to think he'll be far better than Casey, I'm in a wait and see mode. I'm not saying he sucks, just that I'm not sure what to expect.

aw hell no i don’t want to suggest in the least that he’ll be far better than 59 game winning Casey who perennially got his team to perform beyond expectations. That’s just dumb. Two different guys. And Nurse can take what Casey built and be the right guy at the right time to inject some different notions while undoubtedly benefitting from an uptick in personnel. Over time, sure he can be the best coach ever, not that it’s possible to quantify that, but there’s no real barrier to approaching that for any new coach as they move forward.

The only question for me will be his ability to communicate and push the right buttons. Without that vision doesn’t mean shit. But the d-league background has to have helped him develop those sorts of abilities - to make connections and get everyone on the same page within more of a loose structure and without resorting to oversimplificatio. i get the feeling that he has a good grasp on how to manage the roster - and a lot of what will be needed there can come straight out of the culture already in place.

i was thinking that or jackson/kerr. not saying nurse can be as great a coach as kerr, but that he might be that different 'mind' to an established core that puts them over the top.
