He's signing a 1 year vet minimum deal. I like the move, as he's an upgrade over Brown, and he is a long defender that can guard 1-3, and he's still only 23. He played well when he was given the opportunity with GSW.

He should fit right in.

A wing player that can't shoot. Meh

His size alone though makes him an upgrade over brown, which doesn't say much given that Brown was pretty bad.

That is a lot of cash. Might mean we drop Miles and sign another minimum guy and save like 15M$.

Money should be a non-factor here. Masai has a mandate to win a championship. There’s already limits on what he can spend. I’m really looking forward to the hockey and basketball post-season.

Definitely a solid move if he can get back to form...

It's a no-lose proposition for the Raptors other than more tax money. It's basically a low-cost, 3+ month tryout for McCaw.

Does GSW's complaint about his stint with CLE affect this signing?

I don’t think so. I think it’s more CBA related.

I'm not sure why they complained, I would guess that they imply a back door deal where the cavs sign mccaw in the summer for a smaller contract, but gave him a larger one now just to ensure he doesn't resign with gsw?

seems far-fetched, but it's the best I can think of. It's quite a lot of trouble for the cavs to go to just to save a tiny bit of money on mcaw's next contract - not to mention they have no certainty he would sign with them in the summer, he may get a larger offer.

on the other hand, it was very bizarre what they did, to give a guy a 2 year contact and waive him after a game ...

Have to admit I don’t know much about his game. What’s he all about in terms of play style ?

He's long, he can guard 1-3 and he can't shoot.  Not totally sure why we need mccaw, but he's won two championships so he's got experience on that stage.

Could be viewed as revenge for depriving Cavs with LeBron of more rings. Sounds petty, and far-fetched, but stranger things have happened.
