I really want to feel what Lowry feels right now.

i think, more than anything, that it's a sad move, rather than a bad move.  i wanted demar to be 'the guy' for us, so badly.  it would have meant so much to the city and to the franchise.  i know he wasn't going to win us a chip, but having him play out a great career here, having him take us to the playoffs year after year - that meant something.  and i hate to have to give up on that dream, even if it wasn't going to lead to winning it all.  but i understand masai's reasoning here - derozan wasn't a top notch star, and we were paying him like he was.  this will be a good team next year, and that was a heck of a good deal.  onwards we go.

@wojespn
Source: Toronto's first-round pick to San Antonio is protected 1-20. After one year, it becomes two second-round picks.

Even better!

Best case scenario - Raps struggle in the regular season but then get on a role in the last 6 weeks. They finish as the 4th or 5th seed but 20th overall (due to the strength out West). They roll through the Eastern Conference and make the Finals. Leonard then re-signs, the Raps keep their first-round pick, and everyone is happy, including elT.

ideal if he stays in TO...which is highly doubtful imo
looking at the big picture...i see a trade of DD, Poeltl and a protected 1st rounder for Danny Green

there had better be more to this than that

What a stupid decision. I get that this could expedite our rebuild, but this is 1 year too soon.

I wanted to see these guys get a final shot at the east without Lebron.

I'm so upset at this.

i think a big part of this is just that they gave up on demar.  so it's a chance a kawhi and the ability to get out from under the derozan contract, knowing it wouldn't ever get us anywhere significant.  we also added defense and perimeter shooting to a team that needed it badly.  masai was clearly really unsatisfied with the sweep.

On a non-basketball perspective, DD gets to be closer to his dad. It's a big thing in terms of basketball, but personally this is huge for DD. He may not know it right now, though.

Man, the Raptors got better on the perimeter in a hurry.

I don't mind this move since the trade us heavily protected, none of our core young pieces were moved.

Danny Green hasn't cracked 40 FG% the last three seasons. This should be umm, interesting.
