Kyle wanted to join the Spurs and DeMar signed the moment he could. Didnt speak to anybody else

that really says it all to me. DeMar isnt leaving cuz of Kyle. Masai sells him on the kids + him being the future, using Kyle and Ibakas space to get more pieces or trade both to get them etc.

 DeMar is Toronto 😉

DeMar won't leave because of Kyle signing elsewhere.  Trading has a different feel to it.  I don't think Wright is ready to take over anyways.  Ibaka shoots inconsistently but he's still as advertised and our defense has gone way up with him.  Can't discount the effect he's having on JV and other players as well.

oh i dont trade either guy before next off season.

they have value for an all in team and as expirings. If we dont do well enough in the yoffs the next 2 years i think its more than clear with an aging Lowry and Ibaka that this core isnt gonna get it done. 2 years to prove it then we move on centred around DeMar and whatever kids prove to the best would be my plan.

alot of speculation about how DeMar would take Lowry being traded but DeMar is a professional. He wouldnt love it but could be sold easily if its for the greater good. I mean DeMar is far from a problem attitude player, who can remember a player demanding a trade because their friend got traded?? it almost never happens (seriously i cant think of a time off my head)and you are all worried DeMar would rock the boat??? not unless we trading to tank which is a totally different thing.

Even a diminished lowry, in year 3 of this deal, with the raps heading for 42-45 wins, they'd be thinking "we can still do damage in the playoffs." that's how these guys' heads work.

I'm with Doc; forget about trading lowry. We need him this season and next, and he won't be worth much at 33 in his final year.

The trade for me is ibaka, norm and a 1st this off-season.

Ibaka is "overpaid" for what he brings, but I think people underestimate what he brings. That being said, we can afford to lose him.

Siakam could slot in. If DD, OG and JV all continue to improve their long range shooting, and hell, I still think siakam can, then shooting shouldn't be an issue with that lineup.

I would agree with most of this. But factoring in the future skill and salary curves of this present team will force masai’s hand.

I don’t think you can credit Ibaka for JV’s dominance. I just don’t see the connection.

I didn't credit Ibaka for JV's dominance cause 1) I don't see JV as dominant defensive player but he does have spurts of extremely strong play and general all around improvement on offense and 2) Casey noted before, when Ibaka arrived, how much input Ibaka was having in practice, giving defensive tips, helping the guys out on positioning, etc.  He's certainly has had an impact.

There is no doubt that I'm transferring some of my feelings into the hypothetical situation and I don't doubt for a minute that if a player like DDR or Klow chose to sign elsewhere they would have each other's back.  Just a different feeling when you have a player commit and then trade him - can have a negative impact on the player and sometimes those around him (and we're talking about one of the pillars - a captain - of the Raptors that helped turn the team into what we have now, not a role player like Patterson).
