I stopped posting comments after the second quarter ... bad mojo on my part
Hard to believe we won this game given the excellent play of Indy ... their 3 point shooting was awesome and frustrated Siakam and FVV thru-out the game.
While I'm clearly happy we won this game, Siakam's play at the offensive end close to the rim is concerning. He needs to be more physical at slamming the ball in or make the chippies at a higher rate. Giannis would of eaten those shots down low and made you pay. Love the fact he kept on trying and made some great passes to keep us in the game ... hope he continues to learn from this experience. Get fouled or make the shot.
OG's play has been baffling ... he's young and acknowledge this. Love the fact the he plays hard on the defensive end no matter what he does on the offensive end, but when he plays with the second unit it puts us at a significant disadvantage when they just leave him alone. No one is able to create a shot ... some of the line-ups last night shit the bed with Hollis holding on the ball and no where to go or pass ... horrible. Hope Nurse and the coaching staff are making notes .. OG, Nurse, McCaw, Ibaka, and Davis ... Don't know how long that line-up was out there, but man it sucked. Adding FVV helps a bit, but with the refs enabling all the physical play, he was getting pushed around.
We won and I should stop being so critical ...
I think your critisism was well deserved. I dont understand how Nurse thinks we can play a line-up without Lowry, Siakam and FVV for extended period against a good defense. The second unit line-up was there for way too long and could not create any kinds of offense. When you are asking McCaw, RHJ and Davis to create offense you are asking your bench too much. I think he should stagger Lowry and FVV much better so that one of them is on the floor almost all the time and if neither is, then have Siakam in. And OG was useless in this one as you mentioned.
Also while Serge was great offensively in 4th, his defense was horrible early. He was just standing in no-mans ground way too often letting Pacers have easy open threes. I guess our coaching staff was thinking that they are not good shooters so let them have open threes
Good come back in the end, but we didnt deserve to win the game. So many bad decisions combined by Raps. From the afore mentioned line-ups by Nurse to quick contested shots by several players in offense and on to some very bad defensive mistakes.
