Siakam has been pretty underwhelming in the bubble

Bubble trouble for Siakim - everyone is adjusting, some faster than others. These remaining 5 games are tune up matches. Let's see what he does come 'yoffs

Nice to see our Defense lock down when needed … solid win.
While I'm not overly concerned, Siakam's lack of court awareness and turnovers on the offensive end is something that really needs to tune up with improvement.  This was already an area of opportunity for improvement and clearly the time off hasn't helped.  With Siakam, less is more at this time until he improves in this area.

I felt bad for the Magic. There was no fun in that for them at all. The Raptors are doing a fair bit of work on specifics on offense. Siakam is focussing on his mid-range game and that is looking pretty good. They had Gasol get some looks in the post. They had Rondae playing point forward. And generally they are looking to play off each other at all times, but there is not a lot in the way of maximizing anything. Defensively they are again keeping things simple and mostly just looking to stay connected, but able to get maximum results when they bear down - like holding a team to 11 really tough points in a quarter.
Raptorman was dead on when he pointed out the positive effect of not needing to over rely on a star or stars. The balance and connectivity is magic in the magic kingdom.

Sucks for Gordon, but regardless if they were 100% healthy I really don't know where Orlando is going with this roster.. Issac and Fultz, and maybe Bamba seem like the cornerstone pieces but they need to keep tanking at this point and let go of their assets in Vucevic, fournier, and Gordon for some picks.

They tanked for five years and got nowhere. Tanking sucks. They need to compete, make trades to get better.

Agreed. That team has been spinning it's wheels since 2012. I'd trade Vucevic/Fournier/Gordon and get the best package(s) you can get. Tbh, I thought Weltman would have pushed for change by now. He hasn't done much since going there a couple years ago. I think that'll change after this season though.

Incremental improvement isn't all that bad. Yeah, it sucks to be fringe playoff team but it sucks even more to be worse than that.

Get what you can for what you have and get a bit better. And keep doing that. And scout all corners of the planet to find talent. Add talent via draft, don't have to tank. You can trade in or trade up if you like someone.

Look at what Utah did with Donovan Mitchell the summer they lost Gordon Hayward. Gobert was late first round. Ingles was minimum FA.
Look at Memphis. Ravaged by injuries but now are fighting for playoffs after a quick rebuild. Yes they got lucky with the jump to #2 and drafting Morant but still, get on the right track as quick as you can. Look at Pacers! They are kicking ass despite losing a lot of talent and dealing with ton of injuries.

Not the best ownership in Orlando. That probably doesn’t help. I can’t imagine that many players would be thrilled to be getting paid by the DeVos family.

Kyle wants education reform. Aaron gets paid by the corrupt Sec. of Education. It would apparently not be the first instance of disrespecting Magic players for that reason. But it could also just be regular sort of basketball stuff - I don’t want to press hard on any conspiratorial tones. There could be subconscious influences at play or just pure coincidence. Still has me pondering.
