This whole top ten talk is meh. Guy doesn't believe in OG, doesn't have to believe in OG. That's fine. Yeah, his trolling and constant provoking is annoying but just stop trying to convince him, sooner or later he'll have to start worrying about his Celtics, flat earth and player only meetings. Meanwhile, everyone reasonable sees the multidimensional talent OG brings and how he can be one of the key players on a contender. That part is awesome. moremilk brought up some blat from the past names. Haven't thought of Jermain O'Neal since we gave two picks for him. One to get him, one to get rid of him. Damn it Colangelo, drafts picks are not twitter burner accounts, you don't get as many as you want!

is there a law that says he can't learn to shoot? Demar had no jump shot and he's maybe the best mid-range shooter in the league now.

It takes a lot of work and we'll see if simmons has the willingness to do it, but I would be wary of dismissing a 2nd year guy because he can't shoot. Especially in a conversation where we discuss OG's ceiling, he has a lot more to learn than ben does 😉

At least DD tried to shoot jumpers (with little effectiveness) early in his career. Simmons barely shoots from outside the key.

Here's his shot chart from last year: https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/simmobe01/shooting/2018

And this year: https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/simmobe01/shooting/2019

The guy doesn't shoot. Sure he can develop it, but he hasn't shown any desire to develop that part of the game to date. It's quite bizarre really.

we agree on something. Simmons is already special on so many levels. Passing, vision, finishing inside, speed and ball handling at that size. Like i said OG isnt special at anything offensive. You cant name one thing.

You made a nice list but Curry lead the NCAA in scoring. Nash always had slick hands and grace. Even the bigs you named werent awkward af I mean you named Elton Brand?? At 20 he was scoring 20ppg lol you really think thats legit to OG?? come on. he is smooth as butter and showed tons more at that age its not even remotely comparable.

Shawn Marion, 21 years old. 10/7/2 in 24min a game. Another poor comparison.

Jermaine O neal didnt play many mpg til he was 22 and when he did he averaged a double/double and was anything but af with his offensive game.

Honestly your whole list is pretty poor as a comparison. Gasol didnt play in the NBA til he was 24..... its like you just threw out names over a span of a long time. It really proves my point, not yours. I mean Dirk at 21?? Have you even looked it up??

and what "strides" are we talking about this year?? Surely not %s wise. Cuz they are all down. Defensively, too. So let me guess, your "eye test" proves he has improved tremendously??? well, shit, science.

Marion is actually a great comparator as a ceiling for OG. Nice job MoreMilk :)

I think Siakim is a lot more comparable to Marion than OG is.

Yeah that was one of my early comparisons. Then i saw a little bit of KG in him. Then his speed comes into play and Russ comes to mind a little bit. That’s a lot of crazy talent. Ultimately he ends up being really unique, and that is not unlike Marion. His feel and ability to make an impact all around the edges of the game is a lot like Marion.

i love me some Siakam but KG is criminally underrated. he was a double/double guy at 21. His shot was so butter. Ill never forget when he schooled pretty much everybody on team USA in that 1v1 King game. You just cant guard him when he on like that and on defense he was a savage beyond his offensive level. totally unfair.

really if he wanted to save all his energy just to be an offensive force like alot of these "MVP" type guys do he could have been a top 3 offensive talent imo. He cant be stopped 1v1 when his shot is on.

I feel like KG was alot like Kawhi. People know how great both are but they still dont get the love they should because defense isnt appreciated like offense. Both guys are MVP level pretty much every year but rarely get that type of serious consideration.
