I can understand people saying Davis needs more burn because he provides offence and defence, but I'm puzzled by the love affair with Thomas. Sure  he can shoot and plays hard, but he's quite limited right. His man-to-man defence is subpar, and he's not strong enough to handle a lot of NBA 2s. He needs a full off-season of NBA training to get to another level (i.e., become a rotational player). Right now, he's best suited as the 10th or 11th man.

McCaw, though, I have no idea. I was hoping he would break out this year, but he hasn't shown enough to think he's anything more than an end-of-the-bench player.

Thomas definitely still needs some seasoning. If he can be smarter defensively we can hide him fairly easily even with his athletic limitations. Too many mistakes teams can attack. Definitely a situational shooter for now. Would still rather throw him out there to learn and maybe at least hit some shots rather than McCaw, who is at least as damaging but without the upside or long term control.

I can agree with this. There will be times to play Thomas, but his PT should be limited. An ideal time would be when Nurse calls for the team to go to zone, where Thomas' limitations can be disguised. Thomas is actually a pretty good zone player, which likely can be attributed to his time in Europe. Nurse might want to use the same tack with McCaw.
