The team's top-2 centres are established - Ibaka and JV depending on matchups. This won't change, and it shouldn't given the team's success and how the game is currently played. Very few teams go with two traditional big men. Now, I agree JV is the more effective C of the two, but there's no arguing with the results and how he and Ibaka have been used when both have been healthy.
Now if Kanter came to Toronto (and he won't because he won't get the playing time he craves), he would be the 3rd C. That means he'll be relegated to the bench when the team is completely healthy. He also doesn't really fit in with the team's pace-and-space approach.
My comment about worrying about the team's 4th C was in relation to you bringing up Boucher. That is worrying about the team's 4th C spot behind Monroe. Again, if the team looks to add another big (and an argument could be made for one), it's at the 4 spot. They could use another mobile PF that can shoot a bit while providing some rebounding and defence.
Absolutely fair. I just think your description of a PF we need is Serge’s skill sets.
But yes, I think probably the other 2 needs are a bigger concern IF Powell doesn’t play this way consistently. Man, if he did become adequate and ball handling and shooting like we know he can... potential upgrades change a bit.
