I am fully ready for Patrick McCaw not to be on my basketball team anymore.

Meh, for a depth player he's fine.  Imo he has been pretty decent while we were shorthanded

So many threes. Half of their shots. Some of that influenced by the zone defense. Ultimately it felt like the Raptors bench met their match with the Spurs bench - which has some really good talent. Pop played 11 guys and Toronto ultimately got squished by Belinelli who played 12 minutes but was there at the end.

With all of the variance with threes there seems to be a lot more games where one big quarter wins the games, rather than winning each quarter or as close to that as a team can get. Losing three quarters is not as problematic as it would have been in the past. That maybe gives more weight to how much and when zone defenses get deployed. If a team can get a huge run off of ten or so minutes of zone then that can be the ballgame in spite of all kinds of disadvantages throughout the rest of the game.

My biggest concern about the Raptors right now going forward is how they are effected by teams paying particular attention to getting back in transition. Taking away the fast break points makes things tough. We’ve seen a lot of misses and turnovers off the break against teams, including last night. Gasol maybe helps soup up the break with his great outlet passes? But even then in crunch time they are not likely to be able to rely on transition points unless they force turnovers. Over the second half of the season they need to get better with the half court execution, plain and simple. Energy and effort is not going to be enough on it’s own.

If he was played like a depth player that would indeed be fine. He isn't, and I'd be just as happy with him sitting on the bench as off the team, but that isn't happening yet in spite of getting guys back, and by all accounts will not be happening even at full strength.

We disagree on how pretty decent he's been while we were shorthanded.

A demonstration of how pretty decent Patrick McCaw has been while we were shorthanded (we'll use the last 12 games where we went 6-6 while Gasol has been out).

In those 12 games, our on-court numbers with McCaw:
100.7 ORTG (worst of any regular contributor, 3rd overall behind Johnson and Thomas) in 365 minutes
107.4 DRTG (2nd worst of any regular, behind FVV who was obviously playing hurt, also behind the single game sample from Siakam and Powell)
-7 net rating (worst of any regular contributor, just behind Thomas among all players)

And without McCaw:
118.5 ORTG (highest off-court number of any player by 8 points) in 221 minutes
99.6 DRTG (2nd lowest off-court number of any player)
+19 net rating (by far the highest off-court number of any player by 10 points)

The difference:
18 points worse on offence with McCaw (worst among regulars)
8 points worse on defence with McCaw (worst among entire roster)
26 points per 100 possessions worse overall with McCaw (obviously by far the worst among regulars, by 15 points)

Gosh I'm glad he was here to keep us afloat while we were injured. He definitely wasn't the weak link that really hurt us in this stretch.

Two things I've know all season about Danh, he dislikes McCaw and wants Ibaka traded. He's been clear about that, especially McCaw.

I'm pretty good at being obnoxious when I want to be (and often when I don't).
