No, but everyone figured he'd come back this season and be motivated to gave a big jump. And does anyone think he'll ever be an 18ppg player?

he did make a big jump, come on - the guy was as uni-dimensional as it gets. He's significantly better defensively, and does way more on offense than he ever did.

he doubled his assists, blocks, rebounds (in 50% more minutes), shooting career highs from the line, field and 3, consistently defends the best guy on the other team.

But my point really is that if you look closely, there's a much better offensive player lurking just underneath his clumsiness. I think he will surprise you next season, he may not get 18ppg (it was a hot take on my part), that would require beyond just a big improvement - the make up of the team would need to be different. But I'm pretty sure there will be long stretches of games when he will achieve that mark.

Discussion about OG just kills me. What is there to be so anxious about? The dude’s body is just starting to regain it’s full form after losing 30 pounds and having his core debilitated. You don’t have your core messed with and come back like it was nothing. The year after Nadal had his appendectomy in 2014 he lost in the fourth round in the French Open. Yeah the one he never loses. He lost to Berdych in straight sets. Not in the semis. Not in the quarters. The fourth round. He lost the second set 6-0. He went from that to losing in the second round at Wimbledon. I thought at the time that the physical nature of his game was catching up to him on the earlier side. It was not. He barely looked back after that year.

You can see OG finding himself again. You can see it. And he’s adding a lot with a power game that is not entirely unlike Kawhi’s. He’s playing bigger minutes than ever before and simply contributing more and more in so many ways. I don’t think we are going to need to wait until next season if his body comes back fully. He’s going to have more and more big games as one of the more promising two way players as this season progresses still. He missed the playoffs last season. This season he is going to get the full taste and excel.

Anyway this was the sort of game where you get a delay of game call for trying to get the ball inbounded quickly. The kind of game with 25 turnovers to go along with a remarkable 30 fastbreak points. And 13 freaking shots blocked. 4 by OG.

OG was pretty awesome defensively in this one and actually had a lot of good offensive bits too. Why would anyone be anxious about him? He's the youngest player on the team and already established as our best perimeter defender and one of our best overall defenders.
