This thread is for us...

*looks at the title of the top topic in the Raptors section*

"NBA Championship/Game 1: Raptors vs Warriors 9PM"

.........

I did not think in my wildest dreams i would be reading this on this board...

I don't post as often, but do read most of the discussions around this board. Coming from the previous board, and followed you all here. My little contribution was creating: "What they are saying..." seems popular 😉 and i love the fact that you all continue it...

Congrats to everyone.. we deserve this.......WE MADE IT, NOW LETS WIN IT

RAPS IN 7!

With all due respect, "we" didn't do anything.

Its great that the team we love has had this level of success, but there are no congratulations necessary.... unless you think the raps wouldn't have made it without this forum's support?

Dude, your really going to go there... you having a bad night or something. US media pissing you off?

Fuck sakes, you said this 2 weeks ago... "we" arent fucked because we aren't getting contributions, and look tired

"we" weren't playing the game, innit?

It just isn't sustainable.  We're fucked if we don't get long meaningful contributions from more sources.  40 minutes is fine once in a while, but it's too much on a regular basis.  We looked tired in Q4.  They looked fresh.

The bench guys need to find confidence.

Sorry, you are right.... I shouldn't have written that.  Lazy typing.

No we aren’t part of the team, but congratulations ARE in order to everyone who stuck by the team through the lean years. Loyalty among fans is a fleeting thing. I’m guessing most of the posters here are long time fans who remember darker times. What’s telling is people who JUST register for the forum because they’re caught up in it or people who posted here (and the old place) for years but are no longer around. I know a bunch of people following them NOW, but in a couple of years they won’t be. None of the major league sports teams I cheer for have won a title since the Cowboys in the mid nineties. WHEN the Raptors win the title, a TON of people who I know, even those that don’t follow basketball will surely come up and congratulate ME like I won something. All I did was stick with the teams through thick and thin and not change loyalties. On SOME level that probably does deserve congrats.

I agree with Wu, "we" did nothing. It was all me and me alone. Now that "we" have cleared that up, thanks for the thread.

Fans always say we, no need to point it out and complain about it.

So, if it is loyalty that is commendable, shouldn't we currently be "congratulating" the loyal Knicks fans for sticking by their team?  Shouldn't we be showering all the long-suffering Leafs fans with "congratulations"?

I know I am coming off as a dick here, and I apologize for that.... I just dislike seeing hyper-partisanship in sports, because it tends to lead to unbecoming attitudes of arrogance and smugness.  I have a problem with sports fans who think they have a right to feel superior because they had the good fortune of cheering for a winner, usually based on where they happened to be living when they were born.

Commendations and congratulations are two different things. You can commend Knicks fans for sticking to their team if you like.

The point of this thread is to congratulate Raptors fans on the good thing that is happening in their lives, which is only happening in their lives because they did the commendable thing of sticking by the Raptors this far. It would likely be happening regardless, but not as much in our lives, would likely not be as enjoyable for a bandwagon fan, for example.

Congratulations to all Raptors fans, history is in the making and raptors are part of it. Great ! Im lurking here since Rudy Gay trade, so i never experienced "dark ages" , or maybe reason why Raptors started winning was me becoming a fan [cookiemonster] , just kidding, that was and certainly is MU, he should start gambling with combination of luck and insight he has. Anyhow after six years of intensive lurking feels like i know you all very well, and it's good to see you all in celebration mood. I don't feel all that bad myself [jack_armstrong2_zps808c777f] Or am I ? wtf im writing here ? Raps in 6 lets go ! (back to lurking until next finals )

I thought it was fitting to post this here.

Congratulations to the fans who grew up watching Vince, endured the pain of him leaving, then the Bosh "almost but not quite" years with big trade after big trade doing more to deflate the ball than score it, all while dealing with bargnani and rebound ball; then the young gunz era of growing pains with weems and demar, and finally the team turning a corner and being consistent and having a shot - only to realize that in the playoffs your regular season doesnt matter; to the fans who endured getting handily beat by the king of basketball time and time again; to the fans who through all that stayed loyal and true to the team, never giving up: I salute you. You are the heart of this team because you're the heart of this city.
