It's come up in other discussions but only indirectly. If timing and salaries work, is Fred our pg of the future? Basically seeing fred take over starting duties as Kyle slows down a bit, and having kyle take on the sixth man role? Personally I don't see why not, he's proven he's more than capable both as a regular season leader and as a guy who performs on the big stage. If he keeps it up this season, I really think we should plan around that somehow.

Yes.

I don't see kyle wanting to "slow down a bit" or wanting a sixth man role anytime soon.

That's fine, I'm sure both players can play around 30 a game each for the next few years. I'm referring to a gradual transition that's discussed by the team and Lowry, ala Dirk, Duncan, and other similar team vets who slowly decline but are masters of the game.

Pzabby didn't say Lowry is wanting to slow down but he eventually will - doesn't really have a choice, father time always wins.  I can see Lowry staying as the starting pg and simply having his minutes reduced.  Lowry is a team player.

yeah, I'd be fine with it - as long as he's the 4th or 5th best guy in the starting 5, he can definitely start for a championship team. He's a downgrade over kyle, at kyle's peak - but kyle was our best player the last few seasons (with the obvious exception).

If we can get another all star calibre guy or better in 2021 + pascal + og + fred can be a championship contending core.

Even if not, would you rather him walk? Or trade him for picks and a guy who might have more potential?

The chance to get a contender is rare, but never limited to one instance, or method. Our championship is the prime example of that. I think Freddy is a key piece in a championship core, with a need for more obviously. But that may come in 2021 or later. Maybe even Siakam or OG really do take that next step both (Siakam to superstardom ala Kawhi/lebron level, not just the tier below where he's hitting now, and OG to all star or where Siakam is now). I refuse to think it's 2021 or bust, and we can see Fred as a winning piece even without hitting gold there.

no, I think Fred's great - the only reason I wouldn't want him is some team offers him some crazy contract, I would probably go as high as 25M, but I wouldn't feel good about it. 16-18M would be a fair value imo, but even at 20m it would be fine.

If it is 25M$/y, I hope it is not for 5 years. FVV has grown on me and continues to do so this season. But term is scary, 3 years is fair IMO.

I love both Fred and Kyle playing together. It’s worked wonderfully.
