zach lowe said bucks fans feel that kidd is "ruining one of the greatest single season player performances ever" by the team not reaching it's potential, and i was like "nah, not having that..."
Bucks aren't good enough, and playing to an individual has never been a way to win anyway. Giannis is very, very good, but he needs to get a shot, and like you said LX, needs to slot in more to a team strategy.
Naturally, Bucks fans bought the hype before the season started. Top four team and all. Then they added Bledsoe which just added fuel to the fire. And now, Kidd gets a ton of blame for their struggles, especially on offense. And while Kidd could perhaps do better, that roster is still terribly limited and is playing like it was playing pretty much most of last year, average basketball. Some nights they do look really nice like on Monday in Toronto. They were super focused and did a lot of good stuff. Took all of DDR's 52 to beat them.
But their game is energy inefficient. GA scores at the rim, that is exhausting. Khris has to work really hard to get anything because he does not have enough game or athleticism. Bledsoe is good at a lot of different stuff but there's isn't a single thing about him that comes to mind when you say Bledsoe. Like when you say Lowry you think "bulldog", "deep three", "don't you dare post-up a bigger guy on him". Kidd's fault is that defensive trapping thing he keeps running. Yeah, we get it, speed and length but... you are just freely conceding constant 4 on 3 situations. No wonder their 3pt defense is one of the worst in the league and they give up a ton of corner threes.
And rest of that roster is just bad. Delly is borderline NBA player. Teletovic, Snell as well. Brogdon is good but limited. And all of their guys are pretty much the same. They are all long and thin and all give you the same look. There's no variety like when you sub Delon for Lowry and get this whole new look. Or CJ enters the game and defense just has to guard him even when he is without the ball.
Essentially, they've made a meshed potato roster and are playing an extremely exhausting style of defense that is also terribly risky while their offense is equally exhausting and dependent on that risky defense generating a ton of transition opportunities.
Not gonna work. Especially since they are not surprising anyone anymore.
And that is underrated thing about Raptors. Team has been kicking ass and getting top effort from opponents for at least three years and still keeps winning. Bucks are only beginning to deal with above .500 expectations and are failing that test so far. Kidd is a part of that but so is that poorly constructed and managed roster.
