That was one boring game. The Conference Finals were way more entertaining.

I don't intend for this post to be a discussion about race, but...

I remember when Doug Williams led the Washington Redskins to a blowout victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXII. He was named MVP, and he became the first African-American QB to win the big game. In the two decades that followed, most African-American QBs were thought to be run-first, pass-second guys (see Randall Cunningham and Michael Vick), and a lot of African-Americans playing the position as teens were asked (or forced?) to change positions in college. Thirty-one years later, the best QBs in the game are African-Americans, and no one is questioning if they belong.

In ESPN's Bill Barnwell's midseason awards, his top-three (and four out of five) choices for NFL MVP are African-American QBs. The perception of what constitutes an NFL QB has drastically changed, and it's not just about race or the colour of one's skin. QBs have gotten shorter over the years, as the prototype used to be 6'4" or 6'6", 230 to 240 pounds with a rocket arm. The success of shorter QBs like Russell Wilson and Drew Brees have allowed players like Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray to be drafted #1 overall in back-to-back years.

Tony Fauci has nothing to do with NFL Football. They are planning a very safe and controlled opening. However, if they don’t stand for our National Anthem and our Great American Flag, I won’t be watching!!!

Patrick Mahomes’ 10-year -- 10-year! -- contract extension that ties him to Kansas City through the 2031 season will be the richest contract in NFL history.

Final Patrick Mahomes’ deal:

10-year extension worth up to $503 million.

It includes $477 in guarantee mechanisms and the ability for Mahomes to have outs if guarantee mechanisms aren’t exercised.

Mahomes was represented on the deal by
@chriscabott and @leighsteinberg.

The NFL's short-sightedness and greed reeling their ugly heads once again.
