I'm fine with snake & definitely want keepers.

Just making this argument for posterity.

the problem is the guys who invest big in the top 5-6 players will have a big advantage the following season

Teams who draft #1-6 in a snake are going to have an advantage anyways.... at least with Auction, everyone gets an opportunity to bid on those players.

there's no perfect system, everyone has a preference

Sure but in snake drafts I've beaten many teams and won a few leagues with having my 1st pick at 10th.  I actually like having my first pick in the 9-12 range as then you get to pick another player right away with the potential to crack the top 8.  And you never know with injuries and the top players.  Just have to draft well; besides, I find that the players you draft in the middle to bottom of the draft is what will win you a league.

As for this league, it seems that the final decision is getting dragged out a bit.  I vote for a snake draft keeper league.  3 keepers, nothing else fancy - simple player trades with no picks involved - and a manual reordering of next season's draft based on previous record.  Simple and fair.

This is true, just my point was auctions are not randomized order, which allows teams to target the players they want, as opposed to making the best of what's left.

Anyways I agree with Doc. I'm glad we took the time to discuss all the options & get people's opinions. I think we've done our due diligence.

Sounds like this is our consensus:

15 man roster, 9cat H2H  - keeper league - 3 keepers at end of season.
Snake draft - trades but no draft picks allowed (open to future seasons) and future re-draft is based on previous season's record.

DRAFT is SUN 22nd 11:00am PST

Looking forward to it!

If the draft is a snake format, shouldn't the number of keepers be an even number?

Irrelevant if keeps are mandatory.
