for a year? Why not? Especially considering that there is going to be such an out of whack offseason.

Bobby Marks was on the radio saying he figured no team would offer Gasol more than 5 million, and Ibaka was not going to get more than the mid-level exception. He figured Ibaka could sign with Toronto for another year at 10 or so and Gasol could come in cheap in a lesser role.

I can see a team offering Ibaka closer to 15mil and Gasol at 5-7mil seems about right.

I dunno….Ibaka had a career year, I would think some team would like his championship pedigree, 3pt shooting and rim protection for more than 1 year.  I could see him getting a deal in the 15ish range - maybe even a touch more.

Yeah, Ibaka is easily worth 2yrs/30mil deal possibly with a team option 3rd year.

The issue is that not a lot of teams have the cap space to give Ibaka big money. So unless he wants to play in NY (who are already overloaded with bigs), Detroit, Charlotte, Phoenix, or Atlanta, he won't get a big deal from a contending team. The one contender with cap space is Miami, and Ibaka would be a good fit there. Not sure, though, that Miami would be interested in giving a big-money deal to a 31-year old big man, who likely would see limited PT with Bam at the 5.

The floor for Ibaka feels like the MLE, for three years. Like, there must be a team out there that will offer him that, and almost all teams can do so.

If the Raps want him on a one year, they’ll need to pay way more, 20M, maybe a good bit more than that. And if there is a team that wants to offer 15M or higher AAV with term, I don’t know that there is a one year offer that could do it.

Gasol may well be cheap, but don’t be surprised if they up their offer from his asking price for him to get a team option 2nd year in case they want to make a trade mid season, and also to buy some goodwill to keep him longer on a minimum deal thereafter as a mentor/emergency big defender.

I suggested this before that given the global situation Marc may want to play closer to home.

Davis named to all rookie second team. Undrafted.

Siakam names to all NBA second team. Picked very late in the first round.

Masai is a genius.
