I need to choose my words carefully around these parts lmao. Just meant if they wanted to go the route of Loyd, I couldn’t see the team stand in their way. Lots of Miller’s and Boucher’s in the g. The team already knows what they’re getting in both.

Boucher literally won the G-League MVP. I don't think there's that many of those in the G-League.

Pretty significant? Lin had a significant body of work. Mostly with garbage teams. That proved to be a lot of bad information. And there was absolutely nothing that he offered within the mix of this team. Payne has nothing close to the kind of experience Lin has had, and has not been able to offer any glimpses with mostly garbage teams, but there is a chance that the same sort of bad information gleaned from a lot of terrible nba minutes can be scrubbed off the memory banks and they see something worth pursuing within the context of this current roster. Chances are there was something seen at some point that offered a hint at what might happen if he was given a chance to show something within the current mix. That is probably what it is going to come down to for all involved. Something has been seen that could be extrapolated within a scenario of developing a good fit. I severely doubt that anyone was convinced that Payne was a lock when they offered him a chance to compete for a spot, otherwise why not give him a guaranteed deal? He probably is getting his chance off of his summer league play, just as Davis is. And everyone involved will be considered not just based on what happens at training camp - they are all being worked with throughout the summer. How they respond to specific demands and show room for growth is going to likely determine a lot. And it would be hard to call that uninformed.

Okay? Just don't pretend to be shocked when Payne sticks. It's by far the most likely scenario right now, IMO. I'd love to be wrong though, not a fan of Payne's at all.

And sure, a guy could totally flame out in camp. But even then I'd hope they put a lot more weight on the likely years of scouting they'd done on each player rather than a few weeks of camp or sporadic one on one practices over the course of a summer. It would have to be an extreme outlier performance in a small sample to be reliably used to outweigh a far larger sample that tells a different story. Which is not impossible - I'm just saying it had better be an incredible camp performance if that's what they base the decision on, or it's likely a poor decision.

Yes he literally did but it’s a moot point, as you’ve mentioned, he’s still not good enough to play meaningful minutes in the NBA and now too old. Personally, I like Boucher over Miller but For myself, they’re both expendable 3rd string players.

I agree they are expendable (though they should keep Miller), I just don't think their replacements are most likely mined from the G-League.
