plus, how do you put together a salary package for morris, you'd have to trade Monroe, which makes us even thinner at C. Unless you trick them in to getting miles somehow 😉

You do realize that I wrote: "Miles for Morris works"?

CJ makes 8.333, Morris makes 8.6, salary wise, it is a perfect match for CBA rules. Wizards are over tax, they might want some cash on top.

sure … good luck convincing them to take on miles 😉

I don't want Morris but if you add a bit of cash and a 2nd rounder they'd take it.
Besides, nobody here is pretending they are running a team, we are talking about hypothetical, somewhat realistic depth piece targets.

even so, it has to be somewhat realistic … beyond just matching salaries.

Yes, because Morris is a superstar level talent.

Ryan Anderson is guaranteed just 7M$ out of 20M$ for next season

Last checked it was 15.6M$. That alone would be a deal breaker for me, as mentioned tho, he's also a pylon on defense.

I think CJ miles and a 2nd round for Terrence Ross would be a huge hit, in addition to avoiding Miles final year opt-in.
Ross = 2.1 threes on 37%

CJ for Morris is very feasible. Obviously Morris is better than CJ, but you need to take a few things into account.
  • Washington is done for the season. They're just about ready for a tank-mode fire sale. So they'd be happy to get worse with CJ.
  • These type of "favour" deals happen all of the time. Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours (at a later time).
Masai is the right guy to convince Washington to work this out.

A tanking team doesn't give up an asset for nothing. CJ doesn't provide cap relief either. So a second round or two would have to be included. Not sure Masai does that.

Tanking teams trade or buy-out productive veteran players all the time.

In order to free up playing time for young players, and in turn losing more games. It's very common.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jeremy Lin and/or Vince Cater (2 very production vets) get traded for a guy they don't have an obligation to play over young guys or bought out by the Hawks.

Btw. The best part of this entire conversation is finally seeing the Wizards get off the treadmill and jump into the tank.

Bye Washington!!

They don't have an obligation to play any specific player over another. What on earth are you going off about.

The idea was trading miles for a better version of miles with no other incentives. Miles contract isn't any better from their POV in terms of cap flexibility now and or the future. So I said you need to add something else to it and Masai won't. Basic ideas man. Basic.
