Rockets GM Daryl Morey Suggests Raptors Have Regressed Toward the Mean

New York Times NBA reporter Scott Cacciola tweeted about the Toronto Raptors' two-game skid after writing a piece about their good start. Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey offered a theory:

Morey's Wikipedia link suggests the Raptors have regressed toward the mean or, in other words, are an average team.

After an 11-5 start to the season, Toronto dropped games to the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers.

Of course, Morey could speak from a high place because the Rockets lead the Western Conference with a 14-4 record. However, it's never a good idea to use Wikipedia.

Regression is such a shit concept in sports. About as bad as treadmill.

Should not worry about perception and especially trolling. I think Morey is a fun dude, don't think he was serious but don't care anyways. This regular season is all about finding out what we have and so far, there seems to be a ton of upside, far more than even a lot of Raptors fan expected. By the time April arrives this team could become special even if everyone is healthy and we trade JV.
