How about Lowry for Westbrook. Throw in whatever lesser prospects or picks to make it work. Just a thought. Westbrook isn't working out that well alongside Harden and if we keep to the free agent plan we don't expect to have Lowry beyond next season anyway. They could use someone like Lowry that can spread the floor and defend. I don't really like Westbrooks contract but it gives us a primary scorer to take the pressure off Siakam.

Salary situation ends any thought of signing a top free agent but I have doubts that will happen and we'd potentially lose assets in the process of trying to make it happen.

I don't know why this idea got killed.

I know the season just ended and painfully so. And I want Lowry to retire a Raptor just as much as anybody. And this is too soon. I know.

Buttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!
*yes, mocking Kyrie Irving is always welcome*

The Rockets are in shambles, they looked defeated and their season might end tonight. Their owner has been hit by the pandemic hard as his restaurant "empire" has been decimated by shutdowns and quarantine. He is also a well documented dollar pinching cheap ass and wants things done his way. He even wrote a book titled "Shut up and listen!" YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS SHIT UP!

Anyways, he might want to reduce salaries and that might make Russel Westbrook available. I'd offer Lowry + (Norm or McCaw or McCaw + Johnson) + two protected future firsts for Russ.  Re-sign FVV and Ibaka, Marc too if he has another year in him for part of MLE.

FVV/Russ/TD
Westbrook/TD/Thomas
OG/FA/Russ
Siakam/OG/Boucher
Ibaka/(Gasol)/Hernandez

I think that would be a super fun team. A small ball line up of FVV, TD, Russ, Siakam, OG would be hell to play against.

Westbrook has his flaws and they are not minor but he is also an amazing player that always plays 100%. I'd love having him on Raptors. His contract, together with other deals we'd sign and OG's extension would kill our cap flexibility for foreseeable future but that shit is terribly overrated anyways.

I don't think I can live with seeing Lowry in a different uniform...playing against us....would be the most depressing day of my life

I thought the same about seeing DDR but it turned out not as completely terrible. Wouldn't be easy to stomach.

Really? You're comparing DD to KL? Exchanging Lowry for Westbrook would be beyond depressing

From an emotional standpoint, for me, the two are very much one and the same.

Meh, I guess I was never really that attached to Derozan.  🤷‍♂️

I liked Derozan, loyal, hard working, great person. But at times very frustrating to watch and he had many flaws as a basketball player, namely defense, shooting, lack of intangibles.

Sure, his flaws are well documented. But I love both him and Lowry for a lot of things, on and off court. And what they did for the franchise, despite some painful moments, it put the team in position to succeed, in position to get Kawhi and win it all with him. Seeing DDR in Spurs uniform wasn't easy at all for me but later on I just wanted to see the guy happy and successful. Both are wonderful humans, being a fan of that first and foremost makes it easier.

Man, strong no thanks to Russ. This team would be miles worse replacing Lowry with Russ. I might think about it if we were getting a pile of picks coming our way but not straight up and definitely not sending them picks.
