On the other hand - a very prominent slump.

Besides his poor shooting and overall passive play (as he stated), the other big concern on Lowry is how frequently he's turning the ball over. His turnover rate the past three games: 27.6%, 31.5%, and 38.5%. That's just way too high and well-above his career average of 14.9%. I wonder if Lowry is so locked in on chasing the assist title that he's allowed the pursuit to affect his entire game.

by the eye test, a lot of it is more him trying to avoid shooting and forcing a pass when he really should be attacking or shooting.

But you can't know what goes in his mind, a charitable explanation could be not as much that he's afraid, but not wanting to waste possessions on his own shot when he's not feeling it.

Whatever the reason, he's been pretty bad the last two weeks. He had stretches like this in every season though, usually he comes out of it strong. I think last year he had a pretty bad November too if I recall, I will double check.

so last year, after the first two games, he had a stretch of 7 games where he only shot over 50% once, and was 27, 27, 28, 42, 40 and 0% (the game where he got ejected) from the floor. He didn't hit 20 points until the 14th game of the season.

Pretty sure I recall sequences like this every year, so hopefully he's going through one of those and will return soon to his normal play.

If Lowry is all about leading the league in assists to the point where he can’t play properly, and Fred is so concerned about showing that his contract was worth it to the point that his game isn’t right, then this team fucked up badly by firing Casey. That kind of shit has not been a part of the culture here for a long long time. Long season. No need to overreact nor try our hands at psychoanalysis.

Well then we can write off those theories, because there is no universe where firing Casey was a mistake.
