I wasn't a raps fan then, and only watched nba highlights here and there.

But barea, Nelson, augustin etc, admittedly I'm talking from basic memory, but none were great? Maybe Nelson had a bit of toughness to him?

Nelson got to be a pretty smart defender. Barea can be a pest, but not great. Fred does definitely have moments where he changes games on defense.

I don’t see Dumars as a comparison at all. JD was taller, longer, and had a great in-between game. FVV is tenacious, but he’s severely limited defensively. Do you think FVV could guard MJ?

He reminds me of Gary Neal - heady PG who could start if needed, close games, and play good defence. Nelson is a good comp, too. FVV doesn’t have Stoudemire’s quickness nor shotmaking ability.
