That's ok, that's kinda the whole point really. I don't need someones blessing or thumbs up to say what I think.
and it's not necessarily for me, but in general. I've seen posters been called racist, sexist and other terrible things for not being politically correct.
While I'm 110% on board with staying away from personal attacks, or using language that would offend others. I'm not ok with slandering posters because their opinion was not pc enough

There's a lot of value laden comments in there, which is quite ironic, given your dislike of PC "rules..."

What I disagreed with was the notion that anybody who didn't like the Biyombo thing was fine with the Ilyasova thing...

Personally, I don't believe white people and black people experience the same existence, so I don't find it relevant anyway.

OK, so just trust me when I tell you that your first sentence is not what someone would get out of your original disagreement statement.

About the second sentence - no two people experience the same existence, period. Racial is just one of the many, many divides still existing in our societies. Many of these divides are actually insurmountable (race is not one of them, to be clear). What does it all have to do with anything else being discussed here, though, is what puzzles me.

That's not what I said, can we stop assuming?

A) fair enough. At the same time, I think it's fine to just say "I really disagree..."

B) it bugs me when people try to compare a black thing and a white thing; yes, even if it is literally the same issue (age doubts.)

Ok, apologies.

You have demonstrated a clear dislike of political correctness? Or have I got that wrong?

Understood. However you must see how your personal dislikes could drive a purely basketball discussion off the rails and onto “racist” tracks, don’t you? That’s precisely why, IMHO, reacting to your personal peeves can sometimes be very counter productive.

no not really, what I dislike is someone getting called things or made assumptions about for not being politically correct or disagreeing with parts of PC opinion

Fair point.

I'm not sure we can expect people to stick solely to basketball. Wider issues always come up in sports. Look at the NFL for crying out loud!

For the record, I wasn't one of those calling out the thing about Biyombo.

Right, ok. Can you see where someone would think you don't like political correctness, based off that?

I suggest all this conversation, which might be done now anyway, moves to the "suggestions" thread. I'll stop now in here...

Agreed. My apologies for side-tracking the thread about Siakam. [wink]

Thought we could potentially bump this thread, if people have anything to add to what was being said in the siakam thread.

For the record, I had ZERO problem with anything Mike or Log said. And I found it as a good model for people disagreeing but not getting personal.

Obviously I didn't agree with everything said, but although I may appear "sensitive/moany" at times, it's more that I believe in speaking out when I see things I think are "wrong." I'm passionate about that, but that shouldn't be taken as being upset or sensitive; i'm actually very thick skinned! And fine with people having different opinions to me!

Maybe nothing more needs to be said now, but thought I'd just say that, and give others a chance to add anything.

Mike I appreciate you mate :)

Ditto. And if all the discussions went that way, we'd have had no issues whatsoever.

I cleaned up the siakam thread, and moved this discussion over here where it seems to belong.  Not sure if I scooped up everything, so if anyone has any issues with what was moved, send me a pm and I'll see what I can do.
