I had suggested him a few months back. Hopefully he’s not too rusty

Meeks isn't far removed from back-to-back seasons shooting above 40% on 3s on decent volume. As a specialist, it makes sense, although that's really the only above-average NBA skill (along with moving off the ball) he should be expected to show at 31 after a year off.

back-to-back seasons is a huge stretch. He played 3 games one of those seasons and 36 games the next season. The year prior to those seasons he shot 35%. Extremely inconsistent stats.

Well, as a potential 14th man on the roster, what Meeks would bring is really no different than what CJ was bringing; both struggle to play defense well, both are elite but really streaky 3pt shooters and both move off the ball well. Like CJ, Meeks will warm the bench, come in on occasion to see if his shooting's on point, and if not, he'll continue to sit. Come playoffs he won't even see the floor unless it's garbage time or if there's an injury ahead of him.  Really, the only difference is Meeks will be much much cheaper than Miles.

Personally, I'm hoping for a little Gerald Green magic as Meeks fights back from his suspension/time away to save what's remaining of his career.

TBH Jakkal, I can't recall a 3rd string player on a roster that's a consistent 3pt shooter.  If they were, they'd typically be a 2nd stringer or better and want playing time - something that's not available on the Raptors.  If Meeks makes the team, the only difference I can see between him and CJ is cost.  The x-factor with Meeks is that he really only has the remainder of this season to audition for another contract/salvage his career; whereas CJ still has another year to do that.

Yeah, they were required to fill a roster spot by tomorrow.

Ya my comment wasn't so much about what Meeks can do, it was more about the post stating he had been a 40% shooter for back-back seasons. It didn't appear like their was any attempt to review the stats in even the slightest depth other then a quick look at the 3pt percentages.
