on top of all the reasons given i honestly wouldnt want to allow Kawhi that extra 50mil if he leaves. Not unless we getting something very substantial and i dont think we will. Got to let players know we reward loyalty (Lowry and DeMars contracts are proof of that) and we dont award demands.

Also we have proven we are a quality team without him. We might not really need to completely rebuild. We clear some space and alot more coming with Lowry/Ibaka off the books a year later. We could do a Clippers type reload instead of a rebuild.

He can't get 50M$ extra anywhere but in Toronto, that includes sign and trade which has been limited exactly like flat out signing so teams have an advantage when trying to keep their own stars.

Clippers type reload is a mirage, their plan is to go after FA superstars this summer, their record is a surprise even to them.

If Kawhi leaves, Raptors rebuild would be fast and to the point, around the young core of FVV, Delon, Norm, OG, Siakam with rest of the roster traded for assets. I'd re-sign Green in any case but trade Lowry, Ibaka, CJ, JV for whatever picks/young players I can get. JV is a difficult one as his trade value will probably be negative on 17M$ in his last year.

Clippers have Jerry West so im really not surprised at all. Yea he is a consultant but you dont hire him unless you gonna take his advice, especially on drafting and young players in general.

They didnt plan to tank this year. I dont think they thought they would be a top 4 seed either but it wasnt a tank move. we dont need that either. We are winning lots of games against quality teams on the road without Kawhi. No reason to think we arent a playoff team without him. I think we are. The only question i have is can Masai actually attract top flight FAs like the Clippers seem to think (and havent proven yet) they can??

I said it in another thread but i really believe Masai is gonna make a big go at Giannis in a couple years regardless of Kawhi staying or going. If we stay young and talented we would be in a good spot to surround him with quality as well.

I don't think Masai will a) settle for just making the playoffs b) see Lowry, Ibaka, CJ, JV walk on top of it as it wouldn't make sense to keep them beyond current contracts.

So blowing it up is the most logical option and it isn't tanking, our young core is a 30-35 win team as is, another 22 months of improvement and I think you see a low seed play-off them just by those guys. If you turn those veterans into more picks/quality prospects that might be a ~45win team with loads of upside + capspace on top of it. At that point, we can be a player on FA market.

Think "Giannis to Toronto" is Raptors twitter/reddit talk that is as lame and as arrogant as all those X star to Knicks/Lakers/Celtics/Bulls shit content products by "big market media". Too far into to the future to be considered now and if that is some "plan" than Masai's body has been snatched by Glen Grunwald and Bryan Colangelo's burner evil twin brother. Don't see that as anything but distant completely unknown future.

We're a playoff team without him. But do we win a round? And if he leaves and we move Lowry, are we a playoff team then? Kawhi leaves, surely Lowry and Ibaka are gone next summer in all likelihood. I'm sure we'd get a couple decent assets for those two, but not sure how decent. This team won't go into tank mode, that's not Masai.

if Ibaka plays like this all season and into next, do we want to move him or resign him?? i dont think its an easy decision if he keeps this up he is really great beside Siakam.

East still relatively weak. We might win a round without Kawhi this year (i dont wanna find out lol) and next tbh

If Kawhi leaves you trade him because keeping him doesn't fit timeline wise or financially once Delon's, OG's and Siakam's new contracts kick in. It might even happen if Kawhi stays depending on what we do with Green and Delon and what kind of assets we need to attach to JV for someone to take him into their capspace.
